Everyone has their way of working on their problems but however, having more details on a problem with drawn diagram and information on it is easier to solve as compared to questions without diagram or information.
Over countless teaching of the subjects over the years, I've noticed there few things:
1. Students who write down their working/findings on the diagram, can solve the problem faster than not doing so.
2. Students who solve problem using such method can understand a question faster when teachers explained using drawings.
So if you're such person, keep on doing it as you're doing it right. If you're not, fear not, it's never too late to work on your working to your solution by writing them down. It's not that hard anyways!
Cheers,
